Program
In one week, our campers learn to film a short film and premiere their magic at our ROCK N' REEL show! Campers work in crews mentored by film and TV professionals learning the basic skills of film making: pre-production, camera, sound, lighting, directing, production, editing and more. ALL of this with an emphasis on feminist kinship and leadership; learning to empower each other and collaborate across different identities to create a film all can celebrate. No experience or gear is required. Just a great attitude and curiosity to learn. Please note, this is not an acting camp for teens. Our program focuses of the power behind the camera to create stories that impact and change lives. We feature year-round programs on screenwriting and the scripts are selected prior to camp. Registration
Our camps fill quickly!! Summer camp registration for all camps opens in January of every year. Film Camp is usually full by late April. We strongly encourage early registration. We also reserve up to 50% of our summer camp spots for families applying for scholarships and tuition assistance. July 13-18 Hosted by Charlotte Lab School & Imaginon Camp Tuition
Girls Rock Charlotte wants all youth and families to enjoy this amazing experience. The tuition for Girls Rock Charlotte summer camps is on an honor system: a self-reporting, sliding scale from $450 - $300 using the suggested federal guidelines for a family of 4. A sliding scale is a tool to ensure folks have equitable access to experiences like our Summer Camp, regardless of financial resources. We ask for your active participation in deciding your contribution. If a sliding scale is implemented effectively, everyone pays a similar percentage of their income for tuition. While we are a small organization, we make sliding scale a priority because we acknowledge that we live in a world of differing privileges and income disparities. We understand that for various reasons not every family can afford to pay the full tuition range, so we have created a range of reduced tuition amounts that makes this amazing opportunity available to everyone. Please consider your family income, resources and dependents when in the household when determining your requested tuition amount. We can also provide lunch for campers and light rail tickets as well, if requested. For more information on tuition assistance and scholarships, please visit our Scholarship page. |
