OUR VOLUNTEERS ARE THE HEART OF GIRLS ROCK CHARLOTTE. WE LOVE OUR DIVERSE TEAM OF TALENTED MUSICIANS, BAND MANAGERS, CAMP COUNSELORS, WORKSHOP LEADERS, AND MORE.
Here's a a small part of our amazing volunteer family over the years!

Andrea Allen - Camp Counselor
"Being a volunteer for Girls Rock Charlotte will forever be a memorable experience. Having the opportunity to see such young girls develop such confidence over a short period of time was inspiring. ... The camp was really tailored to self-acceptance an embracing every little quirk that makes you unique. Which is a message that is so important for young girls, since society takes great pleasure in telling us how we should be. I had the opportunity to witness these young rockers develop a voice through music and having a platform to speak on their experiences. I can not even begin to find the words to fully describe the impact that these girls have had on me. To see them come out of their shells and completely own the stage was truly amazing!"

Lara Americo - Drum Instructor
"Finding my voice and being confident with who I am is something that took me decades to learn. This is a priceless gift to give to young girls and gender non-conforming children and I am thankful that Girls Rock gives me the chance to share this gift." |
Amirah Brunache - Guitar Instructor and Band Manager
"I volunteered at Girls Rock because I want to help girls feel more confident about themselves and feel like they can do anything they set their minds to. I had a very good experience volunteering at Girls Rock. We were one big family!" |
Charmayne Brooker - Camp Counselor
"I volunteer because this camp boosts girls' self-esteem and teach girls to be themselves. In today's society, a girl's self image can be distorted because of peers, media and social media. It's important to create your own self image and love yourself. I am studying at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, working on my Psychology major with a minor in Criminal Justice." |

Georgia Carr - Band Mentor and Camp Counselor
"My name is Georgia Carr, and I have been volunteering with Girls Rock for about a year now. During my first Amplify workshop, I absolutely fell in love with the program. The girls stunned me with their social awareness and inspired me with their passion for social justice. I am honored to be apart of a program that creates a space for these amazing youth to blossom into the confident, compassionate, and empowered people they are."

Robert Iffergan - Drums & Band Mentor
"Girls Rock Charlotte means that I am passing on my knowledge and passion to young girls who will use it to empower themselves. I volunteer because I know the impact one person can have in changing a life. In my ''real life'' I am a drummer, DJ, and spoken word artist and lyricist. I also work a retail job while attending school full-time!" |

Helena Radeva - Guitar Instruction, Band Manager
"I VOLUNTEERED FOR GIRLS ROCK CHARLOTTE AS A WAY TO HELP YOUNG GIRLS AND WOMEN IDENTIFYING INDIVIDUALS FIND THEIR VOICES THROUGH MUSIC. I WANTED TO HELP THEM FIND MORE CONFIDENCE AS I DID THROUGH THE PROCESS OF LEARNING AN INSTRUMENT AND COLLABORATING WITH OTHERS."

Michelle Stanley - Band Mentor
"I volunteer with Girls Rock Charlotte because I want to help empower young girls and gender-diverse youth. I struggled with many of the same issues these campers are experiencing and I know the difference people can make in someone's life. Not only do I get to watch the campers become more confident, but I also leave camp inspired and more sure of myself." |
Pam Taylor - Vocals, Songwriting and Performance Coach
"After visiting the website and watching the Girls Rock video, I immediately knew this was something I had to do. I struggled with a lot of the same issues growing up and was able to overcome them so I felt like I had something even more meaningful than just my time to give to these girls. What surprised me the most was what these girls taught me. Girls Rock!! I am a Real Life Rock Star! ;-) " |
Jo Walker - Teen Mentor and Band Mentor
"I volunteer for Girls Rock Clt because when I was a camper I was too nervous to even go and say, "Hi" to people and now I'm a whole new confident person, with a lot more friends, and not afraid to perform in front of crowds anymore. I can't express how much this camp has helped me, so I volunteer to say thanks for what the camp has done for me." |
